OBP/Portland Tribune/KPTV Election Coverage: We partner with OBP, the Portland Tribune, and KPTV to provide election coverage including surveys among Oregon voters to gauge how they will vote in primary, general, and special elections, and live election night reporting. Most recently, we conducted a series of surveys about the Oregon Republican and Democratic primaries. Our numbers for the gubernatorial primaries were within the margin of error and the most accurate numbers of any polls conducted on the races.

Oak Lodge Sanitary District Bond Measure: In partnership with Oak Lodge Sanitary District and Barney & Worth, we conducted telephone survey and focus group research among registered voters within the boundaries of the Oak Lodge Sanitary District to gauge support for a bond measure that would determine how to finance improvements to the District’s sanitation plant. The initial survey showed a “yes” vote of 32% just 6 weeks before the election, and after extensive public outreach using messages that tested best in the research, the bond measure passed with 85% of the vote.

Oregon Zoo Bond Measure: Telephone survey for the Oregon Zoo Foundation to assess Metro voters' support for ballot measure 26-96, a bond issue that approved $125 million to fund improvements at the zoo, including an additional five acres of roaming areas, watering holes, and better indoor treatment facilities for the elephants. The survey tested initial support for the ballot measure as well as messages that were most effective at educating voters about the merits of passing the measure. This research informed the proponents messaging strategies. The measure was passed November 2008.
Health Democracy Oregon: Using our own DHM panel, we recruited registered voters in Oregon to participate in an online survey regarding the Oregon Voters’ Pamphlet. The online survey tested three potential design layouts for the Citizen Initiative Review of ballot measures that will be in the Fall 2010 Oregon Voters’ Pamphlet. Respondents were able to look at three actual Citizen’s Initiative Reviews through our online platform which allows for image and video displays. They were asked which layout and content scheme they preferred. Participants’ opinions were used to inform the final design and implementation. |
